A new documentary series directed by Mark Stutzman explores the provenance of his beloved hometown, Mountain Lake Park which was founded as a Chautauqua settlement in the late eighteen hundreds. Victorian cottages, both showy and modest, still line the streets of this charming Appalachian town.
It began as a mountaintop retreat for city-dwellers escaping the summer heat on the B&O Railroad where they could drink in cultural events, and experience a spiritual renewal through the summer months

Olga Knoff and Andrew Abramov restore a post office mural painted by Robert Franklin Gates in 1942. As part of the New Deal, over 1,300 murals were commissioned nationwide to enhance communities and lift spirits during the post-depression era. Located in the Appalachian Mountains of Maryland, the Oakland Post Office and the Garrett County Arts Council partner to preserve the artwork for future generations.

Each year, historical reenactors simulate an ancestral wagon train from Maryland to Pennsylvania to commemorate the first National Road in the United States.
